Beyond Words“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” What type of moments escape vocabulary? What types of moments do not need a photograph to explain them? Many times I have found myself with my camera in hand, walking or sitting for long periods of time, and not take a photo. Why walk around with ten pounds of gear on my shoulder and not click off a few shots. I think, like Mr. Adams, some moments escape the explanation I try to give them through words or images. Many times in my pursuit to understand I muck up the understanding; trying to explain something designed not to be explained. I wonder what moments I miss in my pursuit to gain understanding? Am I content with the silence? Am I content to just be available and be thankful for the moment available to me? Where and when do I invite God to lead me into any understanding of what is before me?
